Hey there! I'm Megan

Couple enjoying lattes together during their Tennessee elopement.

Are you and your partner unsure if you should elope on a weekday or weekend? Traditionally speaking, most people do get married on the weekends. However, elopements are not traditional! As a Tennessee elopement photographer who has seen both options, I almost always recommend opting for a weekday Tennessee elopement!

If you’re on the fence about weekday vs. weekend, read below for 6 reasons why you and your partner should consider a weekday Tennessee elopement!

Already know when you’re eloping, but looking for ideas on what to do for your Tennessee elopement? Check out my list of 50+ Tennessee Elopement Ideas

1. Smaller Audience on Weekday Elopements

Tennessee can be busy any time of year, especially on the weekends when even the locals are off work and exploring. If you’re looking at a popular elopement location, there are not as many visitors during the week, but you can pretty much guarantee that there will be other people around on the weekend.

If you want fewer spectators while you are saying your vows to your beloved, opting for a weekday increases privacy.

2. Less Traffic on Weekday Elopements

This ties in with #1 – just fewer people around in general! This is especially important if you are looking to elope in a location that is more adventurous. Traffic can back up heading to the parks and trailheads can fill up early morning on Saturdays and Sundays. Extra time in traffic or looking for parking can add unnecessary stress on your big day – nevermind if you are somewhere without cell service and can’t contact your photographer/guests.

Weekday Tennessee elopements help alleviate the struggle and stress that can come from traffic and parking on the weekends.

3. Peace and Quiet = Privacy and Intimacy for Weekday Elopements

With fewer strangers and less traffic, you’ll have more privacy and intimacy with your weekday Tennessee elopement. This makes a huge difference in how you will experience your day. It also impacts your memories of the day!

If privacy and intimacy in peace and quiet are important to you on your elopement day, a weekday is for you.

4. Easier to Get Reservations, Permits, Lodging, etc. for Weekday Elopements

On weekdays, there is typically less demand for reservations and permits (as some locations have a limited number each day). Many popular elopement locations can book up over a year in advance on weekends! Additionally, lodging on weekends gets booked out much further in advance. Hotels and AirBnbs will have less demand, so you can book not just a badass spot for your ceremony, but also for your downtime!

If you are down to pass on a weekend date, you will have much better odds of getting the perfect elopement location and AirBnB you’ve been thinking about.

5. More Vendors are Available for Weekday Elopements

On the note of demand, vendor demand is higher on weekends as well!

Since most “big” weddings occur on the weekend, your elopement and wedding vendors (such as photographers, videographers, florists, officiants, etc.) have much more weekday availability.

If you choose a weekday Tennessee elopement, you have better odds of being able to book your favorite vendors!

6. Bonus Reason: You Get to be Non-traditional at Your Weekday Elopement

I mean, that is part of the fun of eloping, right? You opted for a Tennessee elopement because you don’t want the big wedding with all the traditions, so why be traditional with the day of the week you get married? Defy tradition and expectations by eloping on a weekday.

Can’t Plan a Weekday Elopement?

If your perfect elopement date does fall on a weekend, don’t worry – we still have ways for you to reap some of the benefits listed above that weekday elopements enjoy.

It is key to book a photographer who is familiar with where you’re eloping so they can really help you plan for things like traffic, prime locations, parking, and busiest times. A great elopement photographer will be able to help you find a location that fits your needs as a couple. Just make sure that you book well in advance for weekend elopements!
